What is the purpose of this form ?

On the one hand, it will help you to comply with the institutional and legal requirements, and recommendations that apply to you. On the other hand, it will help you optimise the overall management of your data throughout the research lifecycle.

How does it work ?

By answering a few short questions about your data, you will be offered personalised recommendations based on the answers you provide.

You will be able to easily identify the data management requirements (such as copyright or GDPR) and recommendations that apply to your case, and discover the resources at your disposal, such as guides or support staff members.

The tool is designed to be intuitive and accessible, facilitating decision-making and implementation of best practices in data management.

The questionnaire is organised into four main sections

  • Making sure you are actually dealing with a dataset;
  • Detecting the requirements and recommendations that apply to that dataset;
  • Planning for the proper management of the dataset;
  • Identifying the support staff members in your institution to help you addressing all these demands, such as the Research Data Officer (a Research Data Officer or RDO is the person in charge of the general research data management support and can be considered as your main data management helpdesk).

The first three sections of this questionnaire provide general recommendations, while the final section focuses on your university’s local contacts and resources. Any local resources or roles mentioned in the first three sections will be identified in more detail in the final section and in the summary of your answers that will be provided to you at the end of the questionnaire.
