Each university in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation has set up a scientific integrity committee, an independent and interdisciplinary structure responsible for supporting researchers in understanding, applying and protecting the principles of scientific integrity.
The role of the committees
- Preventing misconduct by providing information on good practices
- Listening to and supporting individuals facing doubts, difficulties or conflicts in the context of research
- Handling reports confidentially, impartially and with respect for the rights of all parties
Each committee is autonomous but shares the same mission: to ensure that the principles of scientific integrity are respected in all forms of research. It can be consulted by anyone involved in a scientific project, regardless of their status.
Essential guarantees
- Absolute confidentiality of exchanges
- Independence from research management or hierarchies
- Fairness in the handling of cases, with a structured investigation process
- No reprisals for any action taken in good faith
